Meditation + Pranayama

Breath is the most vital process of the body, Pranayama is generally defined as breath control but the full meaning of the term is Prana (vital energy, life force) Yama (extension, expansion), therefore pranayama should not be considered as mere breathing exercises aimed at introducing extra oxygen into lungs. Pranayama utilizes breathing to influence the flow of prana (vital force) which exist in all things. The techniques of pranayama provide the method whereby the life force can be activated and regulated in order to go beyond one's normal boundaries or limitations and attain a higher state of vibratory energy and awareness. That is why the practice of mindfulness meditation uses the breath as a reference point for resting in the present moment and is more than often practice together. There are many kinds of techniques of pranayama with many benefits as calming the nervous system, helping with insomnia, anxiety, digestion asthma etc.
