About Brooke
Growing up on the Gold Coast Brooke lived a very active life style; heavily involved in team sports and surfing throughout school, as well as training & competing in Surf Life Saving events. This active lifestyle came to a halt when she suffered from a bulging disk in her lower back when she was 17. The injury led her down an emotional road of trying everything to alleviate her severe back pain. Brooke was in a cycle of feeling like it was getting better only to relapse. This search led her to Pilates and yoga! For her, Pilates was the perfect balance of strength and mobility training that her body needed, and yoga little by little helped to calm her mind. More than that, she can see now how Pilates and mindful movement restored her confidence in her body. She trusted her body again like she used to before her injury. Looking back, it’s fair to say finding Pilates was life changing.
From there Brooke became a Pilates instructor, later a yoga teacher; went on to receive a Bachelor in Sport and Exercise Science, and finally a Masters degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology. Being a huge nerd at heart she continues to seek out information which she can use to help people like herself overcome traumatic and chronic injuries.
Brooke is very aware of the holistic nature of ‘dis-ease’ in the body, and has a passion for holistic strategies for overcoming illness with emphases on education and looking closely at how lifestyle factors - stress, sleep, diet, work and mental health affect pain and quality of life.
Her passion now is helping other people regain trust in their body’s ability to move with the right education, behavioural strategies and exercise intervention in place.
In her own words, she is here to act as a guide on the path to fearless movement.
